Established in 2022, the BLK Xcellence Brunch is our annual fundraiser event hosted to grow our organization and support the work we do in the community. This garden party-themed event features live music, interactive photo displays, and awards for local black-owned/led businesses and organizations.

In addition to our business awards, we present four BLK Xcellence Awards to innovative community leaders who are the epitome of excellence, hard-work, leadership, and community advocacy.

Proceeds from the event are used to support our organization in creating additional events and programming that support the African American community in Clarksville TN.

2024 Honorees

  • Monica Meeks

    Monica M. Meeks is a trailblazing figure in Tennessee politics, notably becoming the first Black woman to announce her candidacy for District 68 of the Tennessee House of Representatives in 2022. Her political journey began earlier when she ran for the Clarksville Montgomery County School System Board of Education in 2018. Monica brings extensive qualifications to her advocacy, including a Master of Science in criminal justice and a background as a certified fraud examiner and Army retiree.

    Beyond her political aspirations, Monica is deeply involved in community service and advocacy. She founded the Queen City Gun Club, affiliated with the National African American Gun Association, and is a founding member of the Women Veterans of America Chapter 47. She holds leadership roles in various organizations, including serving as the Criminal Justice Chair for the local NAACP branch. Monica is also dedicated to mentorship, volunteering with Big Brother Big Sisters and TN Promise.

    Her creative pursuits include filmmaking, evidenced by her documentary "Unsung Sheroes," which honors the military service of local women veterans. Monica is passionate about family, cherishing her role as wife and mother, and maintains a vibrant household enriched by her pets. Her resilience and commitment shine through her multifaceted contributions to both her community and the broader political landscape.

  • Arthur "Nick" Nicholson

  • Kimberly Wiggins

    Kimberly Wiggins is an energetic, efficient, & transformational leader. She is recognized for building dynamic, collaborative teams for over two decades. Wiggins is Montgomery County’s Trustee with three primary functions: collecting all county property taxes, keeping fair account of all money received & investing temporary idle funds, as the Treasurer.

    She serves as Rotary Assistant Governor and has served her community by serving on various board and committees. She is a graduate of Leadership Clarksville, Leadership CMCSS, and Leadership Middle TN. She was recently selected as a participant of Leadership TN. Her most endearing service is a s a Big Sister with Big Brothers Big Sisters.

    She earned her Master of Business degree and is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She enjoys life with her husband, O’Neal Wiggins, U.S. Army Retired Master Sergeant and founder of Wiggins Medical Transit.
